I believe there is a need for a federal independent body that
 
provides children's advocates for children who come into contact wiht the
 
criminal justice system or the child protection system. This body should
 
just be focused on the rights and best interests of the child. It needs to
 
be a federal body because the states and territories administer these
 
programs. I would also like to see a federal Human Rights Act that includes
 
the necessity for states and territories to comply with it when formulating
 
local legislation.
