I am gravely concerned about any debate concerning a so-called
 
bill of rights for Australia.
 

 
Australia is already the freest and best country in the world where we feel
 
safe and can express our conscience. Any attempt to now create some bill to
 
define this will only result in a compromise between the vested interests
 
of many parties and groups and this can only produce something unworkable
 
as a result.
 

 
We are freer than anywhere. We are safer than anywhere. We are more
 
protected than anywhere. Those who are blest to live in this Commonwealth
 
need and admire and value and extol what we already have.
