National Human Rights Consultation Submission AGWW-7QY66U Name: DAVID BERNARD Submission Text: I am strongly opposed to the introduction of a bill of rights in Australia. Human rights are already protected in Australia. Australia therefore, does not need any additional legislation to ‘protect’ rights and therefore, we do not need a Charter of Rights. Further reasons for my opposition to a Charter of Rights are that such a charter would likely mean the addition of rights for minority groups and increased power to the judiciary, who are supposed to judicate on the law enacted by our elected representatives, not provide an activist front for their own views. The Australian governments has a far greater need to promote responsibilities not rights. Page 1 of 1
